Connelly Family + One Year Smash Cake
It is so special to celebrate a family welcoming a baby into the family, and just as special to celebrate your baby turning ONE! When the Connellies wanted a smash cake studio session with their dog, I knew this was going to be such a sweet day in the studio.
I always love to start with traditional family photos with everyone looking at the camera when we get started. This ensures I get the more posed photos, while everyone is fresh and we can just focus on letting the natural moments unfold afterwards. (Which are always my favorite to document!)
I absolutely love how these photos of baby and mom turned out. They truly capture their sweet playful interactions.
and then we focused on photographing the family with the props. To really showcase their little one turning one. (I love the dog’s blue bowtie also!)
Afterwards – we just focus on documenting some portraits of their little one and some extra candid moments of him and them interacting – now that we ensured we got all the tender moments documented – we can really make a mess with the smash cake!
I always love this being the first moment a little tries cake for the first time. Each little has such a unique reaction to trying cake that it is so fun to have that photographed. The addition of their furbaby enjoying the cake with their little one just makes this for some unforgettable photos and memories!
