3 Important Moments
Most Mother's Forget to Document
When you first find out you are expecting, wanting to document every moment becomes one of your first priorities! Mother's don't want to miss a single moment and photograph everything as much as possible. Looking at any mother's phone you can see this to be true as it can capture a flip book of photos of their little's life.
However, I have learned over the years of documenting lifestyle photography that there are 3 important moments mom's usually forget to document that they soon regret. So instead of keeping those moments to myself, here are the Top 3 moments.
1 | Maternity
I believe that this is one of the most important moments to document and always so surprised to hear mom's opting out of documenting their maternity. The bond between you and your baby starts right at the moment you find out you are expecting. Each pregnancy comes with their own story, and it's so precious to see how much your little one was loved before they even arrive. It is a moment that is but a glimpse in hindsight, and every mother who takes them loves the photos more and more as time passes!
“…I wasn’t expecting to take maternity photos, but they have turned out to be some of my most cherished photos, just as important as our wedding day, if not more." – The Grimm Family
2| The Nursery
One of the first things I do as a photographer is spend time photographing the little's nursery. Right before they arrive and the mom goes through her nesting phase, it is so sweet to see all the carefully curated things to make the baby's new room feel like home. The amount of time you spend late night on Etsy, Amazon, and all the random Target runs of things you just have to have, along with baby shower gifts, and your parents digging up past collections from your childhood – the nursery tells such a story that often gets undocumented. So much time goes into these little spaces, and they change and adapt just as quickly as babies!
“I cannot wait to share the photos with our son one day so that he can see his first home, since we are relocating for my husband’s job, and the happiness that surrounded the start of our deep, unconditional love for him.” – The Woodcock Family
3 | Meeting Family Members for the First Time
When people meet your little one for the first time, the first thing they do is pull out their phone to take a photo of them. But documenting the moment of the family meeting your little bundle will have so much more of an impact in the future. The moment of your son meeting his new sister, you being able to see your little for the first time, or capturing the expression of your parents being grandparents for the first time will tell such a story on the true meaning of love at first sight.
“Every time I go back to the photo of my son meeting his sister for the first time, I can remember the way my eyes filled up with tears knowing that at that moment she will always have a big brother watching over her.” – The Johnson Family

Hiya, my name is TahJah Harmony and I'm the whimsical creative behind Quaint+Whim, where I specialize in documenting motherhood through lifestyle photography.
I love to photograph pure moments over props, because I feel like your personalities are just as important to capture. Sessions with me are super stress-free, especially if you do an in home session! That way littles can take play breaks, dad's can tinker around the house, and everyone is super relaxed because they are in their comfort zone. Yes, even me, because behind the camera is for sure my comfort zone!
I want to educate and celebrate our little moments in our everyday lives, and give people images that transport them back in time. Each one of my clients tell me that they love their photos more and more as each year passes.
